About dragons and baked apples

The little girl and the dragon

Once upon a time,  there was a little girl named Lotta, living in a beautiful little house with her parents.
On morning, she woke up, looking straight into the cute little eyes of a dragon, just as small as a kitten. For a second, she thought she might be dreaming, but no, there really was a dragon. She smelled the sweet smell of freshly baked pancakes coming out of the kitchen and followed it. „ Morning, Sweety, I made your favorite breakfast, chocolate chip pancakes.“, her Mom said. Lotta sat down , the second she looked down to her plate, all the pancakes were gone. The only thing left on the plate, were a few crumbs. Next to her feet, was the cute little dragon, getting bigger and bigger from all the pancakes it ate.
„Mom, she said, the dragon ate all my pancakes.“ But her Mom didn`t believe her. She said: „ My dear, dragons only exist in books, you must be a little confused. But I have one pancake left, you can eat it, if you want.“
Lotta enjoyed her pancake, with the little dragon snoring under the table.
But only a few hours later, the dragon wasn`t small and cute anymore. It became bigger and bigger. Lotta kept telling her mom, that there was a dragon  in their house, but she didn`t believe her.
At the end of the day, the dragon was so big, the house was like its shell. Its head was as big as the front yard . Lotta and her mom had to go up to the attic.
It was about time to eat dinner and Lottas Daddy came home from work. „ Why are you two up in the attic?“, he asked standing in the street. „ Daddy, there`s a big dragon in our house and it keeps getting bigger and bigger.“, she explained. „ Oh, dear, I can`t see it, but I believe you. What can we do?“, Daddy responded. Lotta had an idea, she climbed down and  petted it and as they were snuggling, the huge dragon shrank until it was the cute, little dragon again.

My version of "There`s no such thing as a dragon" By Jack Kent

Someone told me this story, last week and I can`t get it out of my head. It`s so genious.
Everyone has a dragon, but as long as you take care of it, snuggle it and love it, it`ll stay cute and small. And most important: not everyone has to see it, but believe.

So, everyone: love your dragon!!!

I just did something for mine (which is red with white polka dots, and has the cutest black eyes, btw), by making and eating a delicious baked apple!

For 4 Apples

Preheat oven to 180°C / 350 degrees.
Core and slightly hollow out the apples beyond the cored center. (Don’t go to far or the apple will loose its shape when baked).
Mix together 4 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 tbsp ground cinnamon, 2 tbsp raisins, 2tbsp slivered almonds and 3 tbsp maple syrup (or honey) and fill in the hollow apples.
Bake for 30 minutes and enjoy!

It`s a perfect autumn snack. It`s so cold and grey outside, so you need something warm to brighten up your day.
You can add whatever you want and love .
Like more almonds or walnuts, or oats or you can serve it with caramel sauce or ice cream (for desert).
I`ll definitely eat some more of these babies this autumn/winter.

Enjoy your autumnal snack and take care of your dragons!
Love,
Lotta
